Thirty-five years of entrepreneurial endeavor
have provided Herb Clifford the opportunity to develop unique skills in the
areas of Marketing, Management and Sales.
In the mid 1970's, he formed Media
Concepts, Inc. and launched The Real
Estate Advisor with 25,000 circulation. It was one of the first free real
estate papers of its kind serving Boston and the South Shore. In the early 1980's he became an owner of
Weymouth Publications, Inc. which consisted of two newspapers, the Weymouth
News and Braintree Forum as well
as a design and typesetting company, South
Shore Type. Over a five-year period
he increased revenues almost eight fold.
In the mid 80's, after selling his interests in Weymouth Publications,
Inc., Clifford was sought by South Shore business people to handle advertising
and public relations projects and budgets.
Today he serves as a consultant and advisor to small businesses in the
areas of Marketing, Management and Sales. He has written numerous articles and
news stories including “Automation - A
Marketing and Sales Weapon”, “ISO Certification - the Good Housekeeping Seal
of Approval for the 90’s” and
“A Sensible Strategy for Troubled Businesses”. As a facilitator and
trainer he has conducted seminars including:
"Dynamic Strategic Thinking", "Successful Public Relations",
"Marketing That Works", "Integrating Your Fundraising
Program" and “Lead
Generation".
Clifford has served as Vice
President of Marketing for the Sales and Marketing Executives of Greater Boston
and Editor of the SME newsletter Prospect. He received recognition from SME for outstanding performance in
1992, was the Sponsorship Chairperson for
the 8th Annual International Sales and Marketing Conference at the Hynes
Auditorium Feb. 1992 and assisted with "Sell
'93, The Conference for High Performance Sales and Marketing", World Trade
Center, October 1993.
Clifford has also served as an Adjunct
Professor and Business Consultant for Boston University's Metropolitan College,
Center for Management Development.
Formerly, he was a member of the Society for Marketing Professional
Services, the Weymouth Industrial Association, the South Shore Chamber of
Commerce, and the Taunton Chamber of Commerce. He is presently a member of the Newmarket Business Association and an
advisory Board Member of the Boston Area Health Education Center.
Clifford has been active in his community. He is a founding member of the Town of Weymouth Scholarship Committee, Vice
Chairman 1992; former President Weymouth
Rotary 1987-1988 and is a former
Board Member - "Friends of the Weymouth Council on Aging".
He graduated with High Honors from
University of Massachusetts/Dartmouth with a degree in Business Management.
